The component UI in-game.

Components are critical parts of your ship. They can be randomly damaged if the ship's hull is below 75%, or can randomly overheat during a battle. If they are, the ship will be debuffed in whatever area got damaged. The chance of a component being damaged can be reduced with the Component Damage Chance Perk, and the repair costs can be decreased with the Component Damage Repair Costs Perk.

Damage Chance[edit | edit source]

The chance for a component to be damaged is based on formulas and a percentage based on current hull hitpoints.

  • There are three different base chances for component damage (every time you take a hit): 1% if hull is below 75%, 1.5% if below 50% and 2% if below 25%
  • Components cannot be damaged when above 75% hull.
  • These base chances are modified based on the max hitpoints of the ship and amount of damage the hit deals: Base % * Damage / max hull hitpoints
  • With the component perks and any ship armor factored in, the final formula for the damage chance is:
(([Component Damage Chance] - ([Component Damage Chance] * [Component Damage Chance Perk Percentage])) * ([Weapon Damage Taken] - ([Weapon Damage Taken] * [Armor Percentage]))) / [Max Hull]
